When real life mimics advertising ...
The big news this weekend was that a "flashmob" crowded into the Liverpool Street train station at 7:00 on Friday evening to dance and pay homage to the T-Mobile advertisement created on January 15, 2009.
(Ah ... the power of social media to generate a crowd that will embrace and run with a cool idea ...)
Of course people twittered about the silent disco. Everyone in attendance seemed to be good-natured and police report there were no arrests.
The event facebook group "Liverpool Street Station Silent Dance" has over 14,500 members. It is unknown how many of those members showed up for the event (though estimates are between 13,000-14,000).
Here is the original video of the T-Mobile advertisement.
All of this reminds me of another video - this one based on those Verizon ads.
